Many young musicians or aspiring musicians like to have a go at setting up their own recording studio at their homes. This can be beneficial as hiring studio space can be a expensive process and also limiting in the amount of time spent there.

However setting up a studio comes with its own costs, largely the electronic equipment used in the studio. Thanks to increased competition and the introduction of many online retailers the prices have come down substantially. Many online retailers like Dragon Audio will walk you through the process and guide you with any queries you may have regarding equipment.

Second hand gear may be another option but the risk of losing money or equipment being faulty is increased substantially as it may not always be straight away that you realise there is a problem. If you do go down that route then make sure you check any seller’s reputation before hand and have an expert check over the gear as soon as it arrives.

Once you have all your equipment sourced then you need to ensure that the studio itself it correctly set up for sound recording. You will need to correctly set up the level of signal so that any unnecessary noise is cancelled out. Noise will always be a problem in a home studio but there are ways to reduce it.
